Guardian Automotive is the latest company in the auto glass industry to recycle windows. Customers of four of the company's distribution centers can return broken windshields to Guardian to be recycled.
"We are happy about our new green initiative," announces Scott Billings, director of distribution operations for Guardian Auto. "Windshield recycling is a win / win we are doing the right thing for the environment by keeping windshields out of landfills and we are helping our clients cut back their waste costs."
The company plans to expand the program to the other eight distribution centres later this year. The 4 centres currently participating are Detroit, Cincinnati, Findlay and Atlanta.
"We've received plenty of good feedback from our customers," says Billings. "Once we put the new boxes out and communicated with our clients, we immediately commenced seeing damaged windshields being returned.".
